A brief history
The small township of Sarina officially came into being on 2 September 1907,
its name changing from Plane [Plain] Creek to Sarina, which was a derivative of
the name given to the town by its surveyor.
Although the original settlement was clustered on Michelmore's Hill on the
now, northern approaches to the town it spread down to meet the mill,
established on the banks of the creek.
By 1904 the town boasted stores, hotels, police station , banks, butcheries
and a post office.
By the 1920's, the railway had brought to the town an influx of people from
all nations and the little town grew in size, its mill providing its main source
of employment and income.
The post war years in Sarina bought with them a renewed vigour and the
township never looked back.
